Our Story

Founded in 2005 by the Tesfaye family, SELAM Retail & Grocery started as a small corner store with a big dream - to bring authentic Habesha flavors to the diverse community of Toronto. "SELAM" means "peace" in Amharic, and that's exactly what we've strived to bring to our customers for over two decades.

What began with just a few shelves of Ethiopian spices and injera has grown into a beloved community hub where East African and Middle Eastern cultures come together. We've stayed true to our roots while expanding our offerings to include fresh shawarma, falafel, and a wide range of groceries.
